Ms. Silton Recognized as FCPS 2020 Region 1 Outstanding Secondary Teacher
Congratulations to reading teacher Jill Silton who was recognized as the FCPS 2020 Region 1 Outstanding Secondary Teacher and one of five finalists for the 2020 Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award!
Beyond the walls of South Lakes High School, you might find Jill handing out snacks donated by Team AVID colleagues to her juniors on “SAT Test Saturday”, or she might be seated at a coffee shop preparing a former student for an upcoming reading test, the only barrier to his diploma. Landing her “dream job” when transitioning from elementary to high school, Jill works as a reading specialist and AVID Coordinator/elective teacher. In her 23rd year of teaching, Jill remains passionate. She is a tireless advocate for students while also determinedly imparting skills of self-advocacy. Her enthusiastic work with students and collaborative efforts with fellow teachers are fueled by her long-standing commitment to leveling the playing field for all students.
