The Jennifer Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1990 to recognize graduating seniors in two northern Virginia public high schools (Herndon and South Lakes) who have attained a solid record of achievement despite economic, family, linguistic, or other difficulties that would have impeded less dedicated and determined students.  In its initial year, $900 scholarships were awarded to two individuals; since that time, the Fund has steadily increased its commitments, dividing $11,200 among 7 recipients in June 2019.  Total awards since 1990 have amounted to $206,350 to 194 individual students.
