End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Decrease the gap between white students and Black/Hispanic students in Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 that complete the course with a C+ or better to less than 10%.

Strategy 1

  • Strengthen Tier 1 instruction.

Strategy 2

  •  Utilize formative assessments during virtual instruction to allow for more data dialogues around student achievement.

Strategy 3

  •  Improve practices of professional learning communities through mutual support, observation and feedback.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Decrease or maintain Dropout Rate at no greater than 6%

Strategy 1

  •  Facilitate visitations and the enrollment process by providing students and families with information regarding alternative programs like Adult Education (Herndon) & TSRC.

Strategy 2

  • Plan interventions for retained 9th and 12th grade students

Strategy 3

  •  ESOL counselor (MTSS Team member) and OTG resource teacher will meet regularly with students and families to support on-time graduation.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Increase enrollment of Black and Hispanic students by 5% in non-standard level courses.

Strategy 1

  • Identify students (grades 9-10) not enrolled in Honors courses to build relationships to encourage students to enroll.

Strategy 2

  • Plan for a more student-led course fair instead of teacher led.  Include more student voices in as many of the course presentations as possible (using video or other types of presentation platforms as appropriate) to add to (not replace) the teacher-led information sessions.

Strategy 3

  • Provide all students the opportunity to take an honors level course at South Lakes. For the 2020-21 school year, Economics and Personal Finance, a graduation requirement, is now offered as an honors course for all students taking the course at South Lakes High School
