South Lakes Congratulations
Congratulations to senior Gillian, who has been awarded a high school summer internship with the Department of Defense working in the field of Geospatial Analysis. The Internship Program offers her the opportunity to gain relevant work experience while contributing to an important and purposeful mission in support of our nation's defense using skills she learned here at SLHS.

VA State Science Fair

Kudos to our nine (9) Student Athletes who signed spring National Letters of Intent (NLI) to continue playing their respective sports (baseball, football, girls’ basketball, swimming and running cross country/ track & field) at the collegiate level.
Bright Star Cast
The South Lakes Theatre Program's spring musical has been nominated for 18 Cappie Awards including "Best Musical", "Best Song", "Best Orchestra", and "Best Ensemble".
The following students received individual nominations:
- Abigail Jamison- Best Actor in a Female Role in a Musical
- Henry Carter- Best Actor in a Male Role in a Musical
- Elana Kirwan-Best Comedic Actor in a Female Role in a Musical
- Jonathan Villa- Best Comedic Actor in a Male Role in a Musical
- Alexa Norris- Best Featured Actor in a Female Role in a Musical
- August Rivers- Best Dancer in a Male Role
"Bright Star" has also been nominated for four Brandon Victor Dixon Awards including "Best Musical" and "Outstanding Achievement in Technical Design"

Spring Sports
Congratulations to all the teams who competed this spring. Shout-outs go to the following teams who won District Championships:
• Boys Varsity soccer team who beat Madison HS in a great 1-0 game.
• Girls Outdoor Track & Field team who took home the Concorde District title.
• Albert & Ephraim of Boys Tennis who are Concorde District Doubles Champions.
AVID
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. We are super proud of these seniors in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program who have persevered through challenges and will be headed off to college in the fall. The students have collectively been accepted to more than 30 colleges / universities and earned more than 1 million dollars in scholarships and grants.
