Positive Behavior
South Lakes staff, parents, and students have worked to refresh our PBIS approach. We have created an acronym in line with the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate, the IB Learner profile, and the state code on character education. We are proud and excited to focus on developing SOAR: Scholarship, Ownership, Awareness, Respect. These guiding principles are explained in more detail in our SOAR Matrix of Expectations. Students will be introduced to these concepts on the first day of school and will engage in lessons during Seahawk Seminar approximately once a month throughout the year. A student SOAR club, including representatives from student leadership, will be key to developing and implementing other positive initiatives. Student and staff recognition are important elements of SOAR. We thank the PTSA, Chipotle, and Chick-Fil-A for their gifts in support of SOAR.
