Athletic Paperwork Turn In

The South Lakes Activities Office is collecting Athletic Paperwork.

Beginning September 8th, any student-athlete participating in any out of season practice or workout, must have their athletic paperwork on file (VHSL Physical & Concussion Ed). You should turn in the Emergency Care Card to your coaches in addition to completing the student-athlete survey.

Items needed for participating in Athletics at South Lakes:

  1. VHSL Physical form to be filled out by a doctor. Must be dated AFTER May 1, 2020 and turned into the Activities Office.  Please make sure the form is signed in all the designated areas.
  2. Concussion Education for athletes and parents: PDF reviewed by both the athlete and parent. Turn in the last page, signed, to the Activities Office with your VHSL Physical form. This must be completed each year.
  3. Print & Complete the Emergency Care Card(ECC). The ECC should be turned into your coach. This is required for each season you participate.
  4. Complete the Student/Athlete Survey - Link

2020-2021 Sports Updates

The Virginia High School League (VHSL) adopted Model 3 for the upcoming school year. Below is the new schedule for the Athletic year:

Model 3

Leave all sports in the season where they are currently aligned.

  • Season 1 (Winter) December 14 - February 20
  • Season 2 (Fall) February 15 - May 1
  • Season 3 (Spring) April 12 - June 26
Athletic Booster, Seahawk Golf Scramble

Registration is now open for the Inaugural Seahawk Scramble Golf Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for October 5th, 2020.

Community Notice

With the start of school, we have moved to more school sponsored activities for our athletic programs. One of our guidelines is to have 50 or less participants (student-athletes and coaches) in an area at one time.

Starting the week of September 14, we have activities/practices scheduled:

  • Monday – Friday, 3:30 – 8 pm (Stadium)
  • Monday - Friday, 3:30-5:30 pm (Upper Turf)
  • Saturday, 7:30 am – Noon (Stadium)

During these times, these areas will be closed to the community.

Please drive up to Door 4, and follow the signs for Athletic Paperwork Collection.  We will collect all paperwork curbside.  You must wear a mask and please do not exit your car.

This collection will be in conjunction with textbook and supply distribution.

We will also accept scanned copies of the Athletic Paperwork via email.  Please send to our Athletic Trainer, Kent Hulnick at KJHulnick1@fcps.edu

Boosters Pop-Up Spirit Store – 9/9, 9/10 and 9/11, 4-7 pm!!

The South Lakes Booster Club will have a pop-up Spirit Store for all of your back to school Seahawk apparel needs during student textbook/instrument/supplies pickup on 9/9, 9/10 and 9/11!  Come visit us stadium side outside door 4 from 4-7 pm.  We have new Seahawk buffs (face gaiters) and will debut a few new apparel items as well.  Facemasks and social distancing required, cash/check/credit accepted.

VHSL Athletic Paperwork

While we are waiting on a decision from the VHSL on how athletics and activities will proceed for the 2020-2021 school year, this is a good time to get your VHSL Physical Form completed. You can make an appointment with your personal doctor or take advantage of the free or low cost sports physicals for the upcoming school year.

You will need to complete all paperwork and turned into Activities Office and coaches in order to participate in any green day work out and to try out.

We will send more information on when we will begin to collect them shortly. Link is below for all requirements.

2020-2021 Sports Update

 

As most of you know, the VHSL will vote on July 27 on how we will proceed with all athletics and activities for the 2020-21 school year. You can read more HERE in this InsideNova Newspaper article.  Once a decision is made, we will pass this on to the students, families, coaches and community. Until then, please hold on to any paperwork that is needed and continue to be patient. Looking for South Lakes gear?  Boosters will be open this Saturday, July 18 for a Tent Sale in the Stadium Parking Lot Saturday from 9 AM - Noon.  Take a look HERE at some of the spirit wear to choose from. You can place an order ahead of time for pick up.

Rise Up Seahawks Virtual 5K Challange

School's finally out for summer and the weather is GORGEOUS!.

Registration is now OPEN for our RISE UP SEAHAWKS VIRTUAL 5K CHALLENGE running July 17 - 19.

The goal is to get our community to RISE UP to the CHALLENGE of FUNdraising for our organizations.

 

There are 3 ways to participate:

  • Register for the event - complete your version of the course, your way, on your time during the weekend of July 17 - 19.  Proceeds from registration fees will be split among the PTSA, Athletic Boosters, Band Boosters and PCA
  • Register for the event - AND - make and additional donation to the team of your choice.  Additional donations will go 100% to the designated team.  Each Varsity Athletic Team plus the Band, Chorus and PTSA have been set up in the registration site as a team already.  
  • Make a Donation Only to a specific team or to general funds.  There is a donation only button on the registration site.

Each registrant will receive an event T-Shirt and Bib.  If you are participating from afar - there is an option to have your t-shirt/bib mailed to you at an extra cost.  Otherwise - pick up will be in RESTON TBD.

 

The success of this event depends upon participation so we hope you will encourage your friends, families, neighbors to come together for the common good.
