Student Parking Permit Information
Steps for getting a parking permit at SLHS
Dear South Lakes High School Seniors, Parents, and Legal Guardians:
Welcome to a new school year! Student parking passes for the 2024-2025 school year will open to seniors for purchase on Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at door 4 near the security office.
All student debt must be cleared BEFORE students will be able to purchase a pass. Students MUST have a valid driver’s license and have the student parking application filled out with parent signature authorizing their permission for their child to drive to school.
The link to the form is here: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/is141.pdf
Students must display their driver’s license to school security prior to the issuance of a permit.
After the first week of school, if there are any available student parking spots, the remaining spaces will open to eligible juniors via a lottery system.
The cost for parking permits is as follows:
- $200.00
- Reduced lunch - $100.00
- Free lunch - $20.00
Documentation is required.
The method of payment is MySchoolBucks, cash, and checks payable to South Lakes High School. Students must have completed the application with parent signature, display a valid driver’s license, and submit payment at the time of purchase.
Please submit questions to Scott Devine, Safety and Security Specialist, at @email.
STEP 1: Complete the Application
The link to the parking permit application is located on the bottom of this page in the green box below Step 3. The form must be completed prior to the issuance of a permit.
STEP 2: Administrative Assessment of Parking Privileges
Parking on school grounds is a privilege and is extended to students who are in good standing. Students with poor attendance records, to include excessive unexcused absences, unexcused tardies and unverified absences, will not be considered for a parking permit. Behavioral issues, extensive disciplinary records and grading may also be considered during the assessment period. Students who receive a parking permit may have their attendance and disciplinary record reviewed by an administrator at any time and could have their permit suspended or revoked during the school year. Students who do not follow the rules and regulations outlined in the parking agreement could have their permit suspended or revoked during the school year. There will be no refund of fees if a permit is revoked.
All financial obligations must be satisfied before a parking permit can be purchased. This includes all past due parking, library, and/or lost textbook fines and any other debt that was incurred during the previous school years. Check with your sub-school administrative assistant or Ms. Gabson in the Finance Office regarding outstanding fines. Library fines can only be taken care of in the library.
If a student's application is denied, they will be notified regarding the reason for denial. If a form application is denied for outstanding fines, the student must re-apply after fines are paid. The form application will be considered completed as of the date re-submitted, not the original date. It is a good idea to inquire about and settle fines prior to the submission of the application.
STEP 3: Parking Permit Issuance
South Lakes High School has a limited number of parking spaces and not everyone who applies may be awarded a space. Rising SENIORS will receive priority in the issuance of parking permits and the remaining spaces will be distributed among JUNIORS via a lottery. Students taking FCPS Academy classes where transportation is not provided will be given special consideration. The cost of a parking permit is $200.00* and payment is due at the time the permit is issued. Payment may be made in cash, personal check, MSB, or money order made out to SLHS. Students who receive free or reduced lunches are eligible to receive reduced rate parking.
PARKING VIOLATIONS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Cars may be ticketed, booted, or towed.
